BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-6920 FAX: (517) 373-2751 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 9, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety was scheduled for Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 9:00 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 244 (Sen. Runestad). The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Chang and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from June 24, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 244: Sen. Jim Runestad – Support Jeff Kirkpatrick, Michigan Court Officers and Deputy Sheriffs – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 244: Peter Cunningham, State Bar of Michigan – Support Matt Miner, Michigan Creditor's Bar Association – Support Matt Saxton, Michigan Sheriffs' Association – Support Elinor Jordan, Michigan Coalition to End Domestic Sexual Violence – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
