BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7708 FAX: (517) 373-1450 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 21, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Energy and Technology was scheduled for Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the Senate Hearing Room, Ground Floor, Boji Tower. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 103 (Sen. Schmidt). The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Barrett, Bumstead, Bizon, Schmidt, McCann, Brinks, McMorrow and Bullock, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the meeting minutes from September 14, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 103: Simon Whitlock and Linda Apsey, ITC Holdings – Support Jason Hayes and Greg George, Mackinac Center for Public Policy – Opposed Michigan Chemistry Council, Michigan Chemistry Council – Opposed The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 103: Sharon Segner, LS Power – Opposed Josiah Neeley, R Street – Opposed Paul Cicio, Industrial Energy Consumers of America – Opposed Robbie Diamond, Serving America's Future Energy – Opposed Ron Stimac, Johnson Controls – Support Josh Egglestar, City of Wayland – Support Kevin Korpi, Michigan Forest Products Council – Support Jennifer Owens, Lakeshore Advantage – Support IBEW Local 876 – Support Nicole Blonshine, Blair Twp. – Support IBEW Local 17 – Support Ron LeBeau, Utility Line Contractors – Support Page 1 of 2 IBEW Local 223 – Support Peter Auger, City of Novi – Support Matt Pagel, Xcel Energy – Support Zach Morris, Market VanBuren – Support Manny Lentine, American Transmission Company – Support Al Pscholka, Kinexus – Support Brian O'Connell, General Motors – Support Mike Alaimo, Michigan Chamber of Commerce – Support Rami Haddad, Johnson Controls – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Nesbitt was excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
