BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-6920 FAX: (517) 373-2751 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 29, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety was scheduled for Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 9:15 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 244 (S-1) (Sen. Runestad) with recommendation. 2. Reported SB 375 (Sen. Santana) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:15 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Chang and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from September 9, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 244. Sen. Runestad offered an (S-1) to SB 244. The Chair summarized SB 244 (S-1). The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Runestad to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 244. The vote was a follows: Yeas: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Chang and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Runestad to report SB 244 (S-1) to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was a follows: Yeas: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Chang and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair brought up SB 375, and summarized the bill. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Chang to report SB 375 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was a follows: Yeas: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Chang and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported.
