BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 30, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 101 (Sen. McBroom). 2. Testimony regarding SB 499 (Sen. Daley) 3. Testimony regarding SB 500 (Sen. Irwin). 4. Testimony regarding HB 4762 (Rep. Kahle). 5. Testimony regarding HB 4059 (Rep. Wendzel). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:09 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from September 9, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair announced that HB 4659, HB 4087, SB 578, SB 579, and HB 4521 were being removed from the meeting's agenda. The Chair offered an (S-3) version of SB 101. The Chair invited Sen. McBroom to summarize the (S-3) version of SB 101. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 101: Meghann Keit-Corrion, Michigan Association of Counties – Support Matt Saxton, Michigan Sheriff's Association – Support The Chair invited Sen.(s) Daley and Irwin to summarize SB 499 and SB 500. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 499 and SB 500: Barry Cargill, Michigan HomeCare and Hospice Association – Support Page 1 of 2 Kort St. John, Michigan HomeCare and Hospice Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 499 and SB 500: Sherri Boyd, The Arc Michigan – Support The Chair invited Arika Sinnott, of Rep. Kahle's office, to summarize HB 4762. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4762: Gary Koutsoubos, Down Syndrome Guild of SE MI and National Down Syndrome Society – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4762: Gabe Basso, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan – Support Merissa Kovach, ACLU of Michigan – Support Sherri Boyd, The Arc Michigan – Support Rebecca Mastee, Michigan Catholic Conference – Support The Chair invited Jacob Rushlow, of Rep. Wendzel's office, to summarize HB 4059. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4059: Kristin Wier, LOGAN Center – Support Maggie Moore, Hope Network – Support The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Theis was excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
