HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE REP. JERRY NEYER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES The House Committee on Agriculture was called to order by Chair Neyer. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Neyer, Wortz, Lightner, Alexander, Fox, Kunse, Pavlov, Paiz, Dievendorf and Rheingans. Absent: Rep. Skaggs. Excused: Rep. Skaggs. Representative Alexander moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 20, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. Chair Neyer laid a presentation from the Michigan Potato Industry Commission before the committee. Dr. Kelly Turner, representing the Michigan Potato Industry Commission, Phil Gusmano, representing Better Made, Kali Bagley representing Downey's Chips, and Dennis Lott, owner of Lott Seed Farm, gave presentation. Questions and discussion followed. At 11:03 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 11:03 AM, Majority Vice Chair Wortz called the committee back to order. The Chair laid HB 4017 before the committee: Chair Neyer testified in support of House Bill 4017. Questions and discussion followed. At 11:13 AM, Majority Vice Chair Wortz laid the committee at ease. Thursday, March 6, 2025 10:30 AM Room 308, House Office Building HB 4017 (Rep. Neyer) A bill to amend 1974 PA 154, entitled "Michigan occupational safety and health act," by amending section 35 (MCL 408.1035), as amended by 2024 PA 17. At 11:13 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Barb Eisenmann, Zell Eisenmann, and Noel Eisenmann testified in support of HB 4017. Questions and discussion followed. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 4017, but did not wish to speak: Rebecca Park, representing the Michigan Farm Bureau. The following person submitted a card in opposition to HB 4017, but did not wish to speak: Ryan Sebolt, representing the Michigan AFL-CIO. Representative Lightner moved to excuse Rep. Skaggs from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Neyer adjourned the meeting at 11:41 AM.
