BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-3760 FAX: (517) 373-8661 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 26, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Environmental Quality was scheduled for Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 184 (Sen. VanderWall). 2. Testimony regarding SB 185 (Sen. Ananich). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:03 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Outman, Sen.(s) Daley, Johnson, VanderWall, McBroom, Bayer, and Brinks, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Johnson to adopt the meeting minutes from June 8, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen.(s) Ananich and VanderWall to summarize SB 184 and SB 185. The Chair invited Travis Boeskool and Kris Phillip, of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to further summarize SB 184 and SB 185. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 184 and SB 185: Rebecca Meuninck, Ecology Center – Support Elin Warn Betanzo, Safe Water Engineering – Support Cyndi Roper, Natural Resources Defense Council – Support The following cards were turned in of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 184 and SB 185: Becca Maher, Michigan Environmental Council – Support Dawn Kettinger, Michigan Nurses Association – Support Danielle Van Damme, Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners – Support Mike Frederick, American Academy of Pediatrics Michigan Chapter – Support Tim Minotas, Sierra Club Michigan Chapter – Support Paul Stankewitz, Michigan Catholic Conference – Support Page 1 of 2 Frank Waters, Michigan Primary Care Association – Support Brian Broderick, Michigan Association of Nonpublic Schools – Support Kate Dorsey, Michigan State Medical Society – Support Hallie Fox, Michigan League of Conservation Voters – Support Amy Zaagman, Michigan Council for Maternal and Child Health – Support Julie Cassidy, Michigan League for Public Policy – Support Jared Rodriguez, Childcare Providers Association of Michigan – Oppose William Miller, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324 – Support Sierra Camerone, American Academy of Pediatrics Michigan Chapter – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
