BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES December 2, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 9:00 a.m., in Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 728 (Sen. McBroom) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon, Wozniak and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Chang was excused from the meeting. Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from November 30, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 728 and summarized the bill. Member questions and discussion followed. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 728: Lisa McGraw, Michigan Press Association – Support Kristie Walls, Self - Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to report SB 728 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon and Wozniak Nays: None Pass: Sen. Irwin The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. There being no further business before the committee, Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to adjourn the committee at 9:11 a.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned. Date Adopted by the Committee: 12/07/2021
