BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 18, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentation from the Citizens Research Council of Michigan: Imagining What Should Be: Robust Legislative Oversight in Michigan. 2. Presentation from Jim Townsend and Ben Eikey of the Levin Center. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:02 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon, Wozniak, Irwin and Chang, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from January 13, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Mr. Eric Lupher of the Citizens Research Council of Michigan and Mr. John Lindstrom to give the committee a presentation entitled Imagining What Should Be: Robust Legislative Oversight in Michigan. Member questions and discussion followed. Additional information was requested by the committee. The Chair invited Mr. Jim Townsend, via Zoom, Director of the Levin Center at Wayne Law and Mr. Ben Eikey manager of state training and communications at the Levin Center to testify before the committee regarding the Citizens Research Council presentation entitled Imagining What Should Be: Robust Legislative Oversight in Michigan. Member questions and discussion followed. There being no further business before the committee, Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to adjourn the committee at 3:02 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned. Date Adopted by the Committee: 01/20/2022
