BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 27, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4316 (Rep. Frederick) with recommendation. 2. Reported HB 4352 (S-1) (Rep. Allor) with recommendation. 3. Reported HB 4351 (Rep. Whitsett) with recommendation. 4. Testimony regarding HB 4348 (Rep. Calley). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:04 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4316: Marnie Triemstra, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs – Oppose Rich Farran, Health Care Association of Michigan – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to report HB 4316 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, and Theis Nays: Sen.(s) Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair offered, and summarized, an (S-1) version of HB 4352. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4351: Joseph Sullivan, Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services – Neutral The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the (S-1) version of HB 4352. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None Page 1 of 2 The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Johnson to report the (S-1) version of HB 4352 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. Santana The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to report HB 4351 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The Chair read a statement regarding the ongoing changes being made to HB 4348.
