BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 8, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Readiness was scheduled for Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 12:00 noon, in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentations regarding Education in Michigan Schools during COVID-19. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Horn, Runestad, Daley, Huizenga, Polehanki and Geiss, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the meeting minutes from February 1, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding Dr. Nate Jensen and Peyton Rodriguez, NWEA – No Position Jason Sarsfield and Joe Mark, Center for Charter Schools at Central Michigan University – No Position Katharine Strunk, Education Policy Innovation Collaborative – No Position Dr. Linda Lee Tarver – No Position Caitlin Reynolds – No Position Johnathan Colter – No Position Sora Nielsen – No Position Lena Kauffman and Anna Hoffman – No Position There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
