BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-3447 FAX: (517) 373-5849 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 9, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure was scheduled for Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 12:00 noon, in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4976 (Rep. Markkanen) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported HB 4977 (Rep. Markkanen) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported HB 4978 (Rep. Markkanen) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Testimony regarding HB 4451 (Rep. Howell). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Wozniak, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. LaSata to adopt the meeting minutes from December 1, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Rep. Markkanen to summarize HB 4976 – HB 4978. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4976, HB 4977, and HB 4978: Henry Schienebeck, Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association – Support Julie Penrose, Holli Forest Products – Support Paul Connors, Michigan Department of Treasury – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4976, HB 4977 and HB 4978: Jason Wadaga, Michigan Association of Timbermen – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to report HB 4976 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Wozniak, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier Nays: None Page 1 of 2 The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4976. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to report HB 4977 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Wozniak, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. McBroom to report HB 4978 to the floor with recommendation that it pass.
