BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 22, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentation from Heidi Washington, Director, Michigan Department of Corrections. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon, Wozniak, Irwin and Chang, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to adopt the meeting minutes from February 15, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. Chair McBroom briefed the committee on the day's agenda and provided opening comments including the announcement of possible future hearings with the Department of Corrections to continue the discussions. The Chair invited Michigan Department of Corrections Director, Heidi Washington, to give the committee a presentation regarding the Department. Director Washington was accompanied by Kyle Kaminski, Legislative Liaison, Michigan Department of Corrections. Director Washington provided opening comments to the committee. Director Washington and Kyle Kaminski presented the committee with updates regarding departmental issues that occurred since her presentation at the February 1, 2022 Oversight committee hearing. Member questions and discussion followed. Additional information was requested by the committee. There being no further business before the committee, Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen.
