JAY DEBOYER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, February 24, 2026 9:00 AM Room 352, State Capitol Building The House Committee on Oversight was called to order by Chair DeBoyer. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. DeBoyer, Bierlein, Meerman, Paquette, Carra, Bruck, Jaime Greene, Rigas, Schriver, Woolford, Miller, Pohutsky, Conlin, MacDonell, Mentzer, Tsernoglou and Wegela. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Mentzer moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 04, 2026. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid before the committee the Discussion on the Michigan Department of Corrections. Representative Pohutsky gave testimony on the Michigan Department of Corrections. Questions and discussion followed. Laresha Thornton gave testimony on the Michigan Department of Corrections. Questions and discussion followed. Andi Allen gave testimony on the Michigan Department of Corrections. Questions and discussion followed. Keith Barber, the Michigan Legislative Corrections Ombudsman, gave testimony on the Michigan Department of Corrections. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card wishing to speak, but due to the time constraints were unable to speak: Michael Edmund, Power of Attorney for LeAnn Thompson. Shawanna Vaughn, representing Silent Cry Inc. Trische Duckworth, representing Survivors Speak. Jennifer Evans, representing the Ann Arbor Indivisible. Jamie Hein, representing Prisoner Victims and VMich. Lawanda Hollister, representing Incarcerated Women.
