BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7708 FAX: (517) 373-1450 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 1, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Energy and Technology was scheduled for Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the Senate Hearing Room, Ground Floor, Boji Tower. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 672 (S-1) (Sen. Schmidt) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Bizon, Schmidt, Wozniak, McCann, Brinks, McMorrow and Bullock, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the meeting minutes from February 1, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 672. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Bumstead, Bizon, Schmidt, Wozniak, McCann, Brinks, McMorrow, and Bullock. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 672: Nicole Nystrom, Mastercard – Support David Worthams, Michigan Manufacturers Association – Support Bill Flory, Michigan Association for Justice – Opposed The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to report the (S-1) version of SB 672 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Bizon, Schmidt, and Wozniak. Nays: Sen.(s) McCann, Brinks, McMorrow, and Bullock. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. Page 1 of 2 The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 672. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
