BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1636 FAX: (517) 373-1453 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 9, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Elections was scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4127 (Rep. Hall) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported HB 4128 (Rep. Calley) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported HB 4129 (Rep. Marino) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Reported HB 4130 (Rep. Koleszar) with recommendation and immediate effect. 5. Reported HB 4131 (Rep. Sabo) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Johnson, Sen.(s) McBroom, VanderWall, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from February 23, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4127 and HB 4128: Dorian Tyus, Michigan Democratic Party – Oppose Shira Roza, Promote the Vote – Oppose The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to report HB 4127 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Johnson, Sen.(s) McBroom and VanderWall Nays: Sen. Wojno The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4127. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to report HB 4128 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Page 1 of 2 Yeas: Chair Johnson, Sen.(s) McBroom and VanderWall Nays: Sen. Wojno The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4128. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to report HB 4129 to the floor with recommendation that it pass.
