BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-3447 FAX: (517) 373-5849 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 23, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure was scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 11:45 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 5662 (Rep. O'Malley) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported HB 5663 (Rep. Sneller) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported HB 4252 (Rep. Sneller) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Testimony regarding SB 964 (Sen. Barrett). The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:48 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Wozniak, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to adopt the meeting minutes from March 15, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Rep. O'Malley to summarize HB 5662 and HB 5663. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 5662 and HB 5663: Jill Skutar, Michigan Trucking Association – Support Jenita Moore, Michigan Department of State – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Victory to report HB 5662 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Wozniak, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier Nays: Sen. McBroom The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 5662. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. Page 1 of 2 The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. LaSata to report HB 5663 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 5663. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. Geiss to report HB 4252 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Wozniak, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4252. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair summarized SB 964. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 964: Troy Hagon, Michigan Department of Transportation – No Position There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
