BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 10, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 818 (Sen. Runestad). 2. Testimony regarding SB 819 (Sen. Johnson). The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon, Wozniak and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to adopt the meeting minutes from April 19, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Chang was excused from the meeting. The Chair announced that SB 449 was removed from the day's agenda. The Chair read the cards submitted regarding SB 449: David Randels, Oakland Schools - Support Jennifer Smith, Michigan Association of School Boards – Support The Chair brought up SB 818 and SB 819, and invited Senators Runestad and Johnson to summarize the bills. Member questions followed. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB's 818 and 819: Peter Ruddell, Hangman / Detroit Institute of Arts – Oppose Kirk A. Profit, Detroit Institute of Arts / Detroit Zoo – Oppose Member questions and discission followed. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB's 818-819: Steve Delie, Mackinac Center for Public Policy – Support Sam Klemet, Michigan Association of Broadcasters – Support Lisa McGraw, Michigan Press Association – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair entertained a motion by Sen.
