BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1760 FAX: (517) 373-3487 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 12, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Small Business Development was scheduled for Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 12:00 noon, in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 888 (Sen. Ananich). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Lauwers, Schmidt, MacDonald, Huizenga, McMorrow and Moss, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from April 21, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McMorrow to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) LaSata and Geiss were excused from the meeting. The Chair invited Senate Majority Leader Shirkey to summarize SB 888. The Chair invited Bob Burnett of Divvy Systems and Barefoot Mining for a presentation on cryptocurrency and bitcoin. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 888: Steve Japinga, Lansing Chamber of Commerce – Support Brent Forsberg, TA Forsberg Inc. – Support David Silva Smith – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
