The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 1027 (Sen. MacDonald). 2. Testimony regarding SB 1003 (Sen. VanderWall). 3. Testimony regarding HB 5117 (Rep. Wakeman). 4. Testimony regarding HB 4698 (Rep. Albert). 5. Testimony regarding HB 5749 (Rep. Fink). 6. Testimony regarding SB 1041 (Sen. Wozniak). 7. Testimony regarding SB 1042 (Sen. Wozniak). 8. Reported SB 870 (S-1) (Sen. Runestad) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Wozniak, Chang and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Johnson to adopt the meeting minutes from May 26, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 1027 and invited Sen. MacDonald to summarize the bill. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 1027: The Honorable Judge Linda Davis (Ret.) – Support David Portuesi, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Macomb County – Support Priscilla Bordayo, Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice - Support The cards were read of those individual not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 1027: Katharine Hude, Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals – Neutral Harvey Santana, Alliance for Safety and Justice - Support The Chair brought up SB 1003 and invited Sen. Runestad to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 870. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Wozniak, Chang and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Wozniak to report SB 870 (S-1) to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Wozniak, Chang and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair moved to recommend immediate effect for SB 870 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended.
