BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 8, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follow: 1. Reported SB 563 (S-2) (Sen. LaSata) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adopt the meeting minutes from May 18, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 563, and offered an (S-2) version. The Chair invited Sen. LaSata to summarize the bill and substitute. Member questions followed. The Chair invited Sean Hammond, Michigan Townships Association (Support) to address the committee regarding a member question. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 563: Taylor Ridderbusch, Michigan Department of Natural Resources – Neutral Herasanna Richards, Michigan Municipal League - Support The Chair entertained a motion by Outman to adopt the (S-2) version of SB 563. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Outman to report SB 563 (S-2) to the floor with recommendation that is pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair moved to recommend immediate effect for SB 563 (S-2). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 9:07 a.m. Date adopted by committee: 06/15/2022
