BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 15, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follow: 1. Reported SR 150 (Sen. McBroom) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adopt the meeting minutes from June 8, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SR 150, and invited Vice Chair Bumstead to Chair the committee while Chair McBroom testified to the resolution. Member questions followed. Chair McBroom returned to Chair the committee and invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SR 150: - Henry Schinenback, Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association – Support. Member questions followed. - Via Zoom, Horst Schmidt, Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition – Oppose Member questions followed. - Via Zoom, J.R. Richardson, Citizen – Support No members had questions for Mr. Richardson. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SR 150: Jim Reed, Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust – Oppose Nancy Warren, Citizen – Oppose Tyler Barron, Keep the UP Wild – Oppose Molly Tamulevich, Humane Society of the U.S. – Oppose Julie Stoneman, Michigan Nature Association – Oppose Deena Bosworth, Michigan Association of Counties – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Schmidt to report SR 150 to the floor with recommendation that is be adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman and Schmidt Nays: Sen. McCann The motion prevailed and the resolution was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to adjourn the committee.
