BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1760 FAX: (517) 373-3487 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 16, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Small Business Development was scheduled for Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 12:00 noon, in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 888 (S-1) (Sen. Ananich) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported HB 6017 (Rep. Joe Bellino) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:07 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Schmidt, LaSata, MacDonald, Huizenga, Geiss and Moss, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from June 9, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) Lauwers and McMorrow were excused from the meeting. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 888: Abigail Wallace, Michigan Environmental Council – Neutral The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 888: William Kraus, Chair Digital Asset and Blockchain Specialty Team at Butzel Long – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Moss to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 888. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Schmidt, LaSata, MacDonald, Huizenga, Geiss, and Moss. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to report the (S-1) version of SB 888 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Schmidt, LaSata, MacDonald, and Moss. Nays: Sen.(s) Huizenga. Page 1 of 2 Pass: Sen.(s) Geiss. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 888. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 6017: Amanda Tomich, MI Assessors Association – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt to report HB 6017 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Schmidt, LaSata, MacDonald, Huizenga, Geiss, and Moss. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 6017. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
