BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-6920 FAX: (517) 373-2751 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 23, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety was scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4195 (S-2) (Rep. Hornberger) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported HB 4618 (Rep. Haadsma) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported HB 4619 (Rep. Haadsma) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Reported HB 4277 (S-1) (Rep. Manoogian) with recommendation and immediate effect. 5. Reported HB 4278 (Rep. Mueller) with recommendation and immediate effect. 6. Reported HB 4279 (Rep. Bellino) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Wozniak, and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to adopt the meeting minutes from June 16, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up HB 4195. Sen. Johnson offered an (S-2) version of HB 4195, and summarized the (S-2). The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the (S-2) version of HB 4195. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Wozniak, and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to report HB 4195 (S-2) to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Wozniak, and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair moved to recommend immediate effect for HB 4195 (S-2). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair brought up HB's 4618 and 4619, and remined the members that testimony was received on both bills during the June 14, 2022 committee hearing. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to report HB 4618 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Wozniak, and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported.
