BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7350 FAX: (517) 373-9228 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 24, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Education was scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Adopted the 2023-2024 committee rules. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Polehanki, Sen.(s) Geiss, Chang, Camilleri, McDonald Rivet, Damoose and Johnson, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion from Sen. Geiss to adopt the 2023-2024 committee rules. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Polehanki, Sen.(s) Geiss, Chang, Camilleri, McDonald Rivet, Damoose, and Johnson. Nays: None The motion prevailed. Due to time constraints, the following individuals were not able to testify regarding SB 12: Dr. Linda Lee Tarver, Black Educational Activist – Opposition There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
