BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7800 FAX: (517) 373-9310 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 7, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure was scheduled for Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 3:30 p.m., in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 43 (S-1) (Sen. Cherry). 2. Presentation from the Michigan Townships Association. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:32 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Geiss, Sen.(s) Klinefelt, Wojno, Hertel, Camilleri, Chang, McCann, McBroom, Victory, Bumstead, and Bellino, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to adopt the meeting minutes from February 28, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen. Cherry to summarize SB 43. Sen. Klinefelt offered an (S-1) version of SB 43. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 43 and (S-1): Troy Hagon, Michigan Department of Transportation – Support At 3:38 p.m., Sen. Camilleri left the meeting and did not return. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Klinefelt to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 43. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Geiss, Sen.(s) Klinefelt, Wojno, Hertel, Chang, McCann, McBroom, Victory, Bumstead, and Bellino Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 43: Lance Binoniemi, Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association – Support William Miller, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324 – Support Page 1 of 2 The Chair invited Judy Allen, of the Michigan Townships Association, to give a presentation regarding an overview of the Association. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
