- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. BRIAN BEGOLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, March 12, 2026 9:00 AM Room 307, House Office Building The House Committee on Government Operations was called to order by Chair BeGole. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. BeGole, Harris, VanderWall, Fitzgerald and McFall. Absent: None. Excused: None. The Chair laid HB 5652 before the committee: HB 5652 (Rep. BeGole) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," (MCL 600.101 to 600.9947) by adding section 2940a. The following person submitted a card in opposition to HB 5652, but did not wish to speak: Mitch Albers, representing the Michigan Association for Justice. Representative Harris moved to report out HB 5652 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 3-2-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. BeGole, Harris and VanderWall. Nays: Reps. Fitzgerald and McFall. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 4848 before the committee: HB 4848 (Rep. Fitzgerald) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1509. Representative Fitzgerald moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 4848. The motion prevailed 5-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. BeGole, Harris, VanderWall, Fitzgerald and McFall. Nays: None.
