BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7315 FAX: (517) 373-3126 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 12, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy was scheduled for Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 12:30 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentation from Families Against Narcotics. 2. Testimony regarding SB 219 (Sen. Santana). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:33 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Hertel, Sen.(s) Santana, Wojno, Cherry, Klinefelt, Geiss, Webber, Hauck, Huizenga, and Runestad, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Klinefelt to adopt the meeting minutes from March 22, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Judge Linda Davis, Executive Director of Families Against Narcotics, and Elena Kline, Program Director at Corewell Health, to give a presentation regarding the organization. The Chair invited Sen. Santana to summarize SB 219. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 219: Christine Shearer, Michigan Association of Health Plans – Support Amy Drumm, Michigan Retailers Association – Support Amy Ellis, Spartan Nash – Support Eric Roath, Michigan Pharmacists Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 219: Sonny Hoogendorn, Meijer – Support Dave Worthams, Michigan Manufacturers Association – Support Lisa Bade, Citizen – Support Jarrett Skorup, Mackinac Center for Public Policy – Support Bel Martin, Ascension – Support Rachel Carl, Walmart – Support Page 1 of 2 Jill McCormack, National Association of Chain Drug Stores – Support Jamie Zaniewski, CVS Health – Support Kimberly Walz, Walgreens – Support Scott Kempa, Michigan State Medical Society – Oppose There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
