BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-0142 FAX: (517) 373-3938 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 13, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Labor was scheduled for Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 185 (Sen. Irwin). 2. Testimony regarding SB 169 (Sen. Cherry). The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri, Cavanagh and Albert, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Camilleri to adopt the meeting minutes from March 14, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 185: Annie Somerville, The Office of Sen. Irwin – Support Ava Hill and Jenell Mansfield, Graduate Employees Union – Support The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 169: Sen. John Cherry – Support Jonovan Luckey, SEIU 517M – Support Yousef Rabhi, Michigan Nurses Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 185: Yousef Rabhi, Michigan Nurses Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 169: Ron Khoury, International Union of Operating Engineers – Support Elizabeth Kelly Byrd, SEIU Michigan – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 169 and SB 185: Jenell Mansfield, AFT Michigan – Support Steve Delie, Mackinac Center for Public Policy – Opposition Ryan Sebolt, MI AFL-CIO – Support Page 1 of 2 There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
