BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7315 FAX: (517) 373-3126 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 19, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy was scheduled for Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 12:30 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 219 (S-1) (Sen. Santana) with recommendation. Due to Senate Session, the committee was delayed. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Hertel, Sen.(s) Santana, Wojno, Cherry, Klinefelt, Geiss, Webber, Hauck, Huizenga, and Runestad, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to adopt the meeting minutes from April 12, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. Sen. Santana offered an (S-1) version of SB 219. The Chair invited Sen. Santana to summarize the (S-1) version of SB 219. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 219: Rachel Carl, Walmart – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cherry to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 219. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Hertel, Sen.(s) Santana, Wojno, Cherry, Klinefelt, Geiss, Webber, Hauck, Huizenga, and Runestad Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to report the (S-1) version of SB 219 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Page 1 of 2 Yeas: Chair Hertel, Sen.(s) Santana, Wojno, Cherry, Klinefelt, Geiss, Webber, Hauck, Huizenga, and Runestad Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
