BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 16, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Agriculture was scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SR 15 (Sen. Wojno). 2. Testimony regarding SB 103 (Sen. Cherry), SB 104 (Sen. Daley) and SB 105 (Sen. McCann). The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Cherry, Singh, Polehanki, Victory and Hoitenga, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki to adopt the meeting minutes from March 7, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Senator Wojno to summarize Senate Resolution 15. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SR 15: Liz Kirwood, FLOW (For the Love Of Water) – Support Charlotte Jameson, Michigan Environmental Council – Support Marc Smith, National Wildlife Federation, Great Lakes district – Support Amy Trotter, Michigan United Conservation Clubs – Support Bob Matthews, Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation – Support The Chair invited Senator Cherry, Senator McCann and Bryce Fisher, Chief of Staff to Senator Daley, to explain Senate Bills 103, 104, and 105. Member questions followed. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 103, SB 104 and SB 105: Taylor Ridderbusch, Michigan Department of Natural Resources – Support Amy Trotter, Michigan United Conservation Clubs – Support Mike Thorman, Michigan Hunting Dog Federation – Support Dennis Eade, Michigan Steelhead and Salmon Fishermen's Association – Support Dennis Stachewicz, Commercial Fishing Guide from the U.P. – Support Page 1 of 2 Bob Matthews, Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 103, SB 104 and SB 105: Pete Hrodey, Citizen, Marquette MI – Support Jarrett Skorup, Mackinac Center for Public Policy – Opposed Erik Schnelle, National Deer Association – Support Dave Johnson, UP Sportsmen's Alliance – Support Bryan Burroughs, Michigan Trout Unlimited – Support Cary Gorniak, Straits Area Sportsmen's Club – Support Joe Hudson, UP Bear Houndsman – Support Roger Thorman, Michigan State Fox Hunters – Support Jim Wale, Michigan United Coon Hunters – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cherry to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Daley was excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
