BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7670 FAX: (517) 373-5958 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 17, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Veterans and Emergency Services was scheduled for Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony Regarding SB 235 (Sen. Outman). 2. Testimony Regarding HB 4047 (Rep. Bezotte). The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Hertel and Outman, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adopt the meeting minutes from April 19, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 235 and HB 4047 and invited Sen. Outman and Rep. Bezotte to summarize the bills. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 235 and HB 4047: Sherry Kramer, Chapter President, Thumb Chapter, Blue Star Mothers – Support Jacqueline Ransom, President Blue Star Mothers of Michigan – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 235 and HB 4047: Heather Feuerstein, MI Department of Military and Veterans Affairs - Support The Chair moved to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Santana was excused from the meeting. Page 1 of 2 There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
