BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7888 FAX: (517) 373-2983 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 17, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Elections and Ethics was scheduled for Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 339 (Sen. McMorrow). The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Wojno, Santana, McMorrow, Chang, Camilleri, Johnson and McBroom, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Wojno to adopt the meeting minutes from April 12, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Senator McMorrow to summarize SB 339. Member questions followed. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 339: Erin Schor, MDOS – Support Chris Swope, Lansing City Clerk – Support Martin Brook, Bloomfield Township Clerk – Support Erica Petersman, Promote the Vote – Support Bill Richardson, Pure Integrity Michigan Elections – Opposed The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 339: Jamie Lyons-Eddy, Voters Not Politicians – Support Bill Zaagman, MI Association of Municipal Clerks – Support Olivia Luckett, Voter Protection Director, MDP – Support Merissa Kovach, ACLU of Michigan – Support Nick Occhipinti, Michigan LOV – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
