BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 23, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Agriculture was scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SR 15 (Sen. Wojno) with recommendation. 2. Reported SB 103 ( Cherry) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported SB 104 ( Daley) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Reported SB 105 (Sen. McCann) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Cherry, Singh, Polehanki, Daley, Victory and Hoitenga, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cherry to report SR 15 to the floor with recommendation that it be adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Cherry, Singh, Polehanki, Daley, Victory, and Hoitenga. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the resolution was reported. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 103, SB 104 and SB 105: Ross Gavin, Michigan Environmental Council – Support Mark Spencer, MI Trappers and Predator Callers Association – Support Taylor Ridderbusch, MI DNR – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cherry to report SB 103 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Cherry, Singh, Polehanki, Daley, and Victory. Nays: Sen.(s) Hoitenga. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. Page 1 of 2 The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 103. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cherry to report SB 104 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Cherry, Singh, Polehanki, Daley, and Victory. Nays: Sen.(s) Hoitenga. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 104. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cherry to report SB 105 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Shink, Sen.(s) Cherry, Singh, Polehanki, Daley, and Victory. Nays: Sen.(s) Hoitenga. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 105. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair invited the following organizations for a presentation on 30 X 30 initiative: Erin Ford, Audubon Great Lakes Kris Olsson, Huron River Watershed Chris Semrinec and Hudson Villeneuve, League of Conservation Voters Christy McGillivray, Sierra Club Michigan Chapter There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
