BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7670 FAX: (517) 373-5958 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 24, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Veterans and Emergency Services was scheduled for Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 235 (Sen. Outman) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Hertel, Santana and Outman, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Hertel to adopt the meeting minutes from May 17, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 235 invited Sen. Outman to summarize the bill. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to report SB 235 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Hertel, Santana and Outman Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The following card was submitted by an individual not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 235: Terry J. Sabo, Deputy Director, Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs - Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
