BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7350 FAX: (517) 373-9228 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 13, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Education was scheduled for Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 359 (Sen. Chang) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:33 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Polehanki, Sen.(s) Geiss, Chang, Camilleri, McDonald Rivet, Damoose and Johnson, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to adopt the meeting minutes from June 6, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 359: Rachel Richards, Michigan League for Public Policy – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Chang to report SB 359 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Polehanki, Sen.(s) Geiss, Chang, Camilleri, and McDonald Rivet. Nays: Sen.(s) Damoose and Johnson. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
