BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2406 FAX: (517) 373-5679 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 12, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Housing and Human Services was scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 12:00 noon, in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 417 (Sen. Singh). 2. Testimony regarding HB 4273 (Rep. O'Neal). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Cavanagh, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, Geiss, Lindsey, Hoitenga, and Damoose, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cherry to adopt the meeting minutes from June 27, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen. Singh to summarize SB 417. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 417: Amy Hovey, Michigan State Housing Development Authority – Support Clarence Stone, Michigan State Housing Development Authority – Support Michael Stefanko, Ginosko Development – Support The following cards were turned in of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 417: Patrick Harrington, Michigan Housing Council – Support Patrick Harrington, The Related Companies – Support Norma Bauer, Rent is Too Damn High – Support The Chair invited Rep. O'Neal to summarize HB 4273.
