BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2523 FAX: (517) 373-5669 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 14, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Community Development was scheduled for Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 12:00 noon, in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4573 (Rep. Glanville). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Cherry, McDonald Rivet, Moss, Geiss, Victory, Lindsey and Webber, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Victory to adopt the meeting minutes from June 20, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Representative Glanville to explain House Bill 4573. Member questions followed. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4573: Katie Witkowski, MCCA – Support Dr. Michael Gavin, President of Delta College – Support Julie Parks, GRCC – Support Kristen Charlton, Oakland Community College – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4573: Brian Shoaf, Detroit Chamber of Commerce – Support Dr. Trevor Kubatzke, Lake MI College – Support Ryan Hundt, MI Works Assoc. – Support Gabriel Schneider, NMC Northern Strategies 360 – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
