BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7748 FAX: (517) 373-1387 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 4, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Finance, Insurance, and Consumer Protection was scheduled for Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 12:30 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 175 (S-1) (Sen. Santana) with recommendation. 2. Reported HB 4376 (Rep. Brenda Carter) with recommendation. 3. Testimony regarding SB 530 (Sen. Cavanagh) and SB 531 (Sen. Anthony). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:43 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cavanagh, Sen.(s) Moss, McCann, Bayer, Irwin, Huizenga, Theis and Daley, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to adopt the meeting minutes from September 27, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bayer to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 175. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cavanagh, Sen.(s) Moss, McCann, Bayer, Irwin, Huizenga, Theis, and Daley. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McCann to report the (S-1) version of SB 175 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cavanagh, Sen.(s) Moss, McCann, Bayer, Irwin, and Huizenga. Nays: Sen.(s) Theis and Daley. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Moss to report HB 4376 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Cavanagh, Sen.(s) Moss, McCann, Bayer, Irwin, Huizenga, Theis, and Daley. Nays: None Page 1 of 3 The motion prevailed and the bill was reported.
