BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2523 FAX: (517) 373-5669 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 5, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Community Development was scheduled for Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 12:00 noon, in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4573 (S-1) (Rep. Carol Glanville) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Cherry, McDonald Rivet, Moss, Geiss, Lindsey and Webber, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Lindsey to adopt the meeting minutes from September 14, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4573: Jami DeChenes, Michigan Chemistry Council – Support David Worthams, Michigan Manufacturers Association – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki to adopt the (S-1) version of HB 4573. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Cherry, McDonald Rivet, Moss, Geiss, Lindsey, and Webber. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to report the (S-1) version of HB 4573 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Cherry, McDonald Rivet, Moss, Geiss, and Webber. Nays: Sen.(s) Lindsey. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Victory was excused from the meeting.
