BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2523 FAX: (517) 373-5669 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES November 2, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Community Development was scheduled for Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 12:00 noon, in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 5074 (Rep. Will Snyder) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Cherry, McDonald Rivet, Moss, Geiss, Victory, Lindsey and Webber, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to adopt the meeting minutes from October 25, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Jason Calella of Representative Snyder's office to explain HB 5074. Member questions followed. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 5074: Peter Wills, City of Muskegon – Support Danielle McCann, MEDC – Support Peter Morman, Michigan Department of Treasury – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Victory to report HB 5074 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Cherry, McDonald Rivet, Moss, Geiss, Victory, and Webber. Nays: Sen.(s) Lindsey. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
