BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7670 FAX: (517) 373-5958 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 7, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Veterans and Emergency Services was scheduled for Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4845 (Rep. Bruck) with recommendation. 2. Testimony regarding SB 690 (Sen. Klinefelt). The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Hertel, Santana and Outman, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Santana to adopt the meeting minutes from November 1, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up HB 4845, and invited Rep. Bruck to summarize the bill. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4845: Mark Cherney, Monroe Township Fire Department – Support Lt. Scott McCarty, Monroe Township Fire Department - Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Hertel to report HB 4845 to the floor with recommendation that the bill pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Hertel, Santana and Outman Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair brought up SB 690, and summarize the bill for the committee. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 690: Lt. Colonel Jason Evans, Judge Advocate General’s Corp – Support Terry Sabo, MI Department of Military and Veterans Affairs - Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
