- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMUNICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY REP. JAIME GREENE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, April 21, 2026 10:30 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Communications and Technology was called to order by Chair Jaime Greene. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Jaime Greene, Kunse, Wendzel, Schmaltz, Schriver, Fairbairn, Scott, Andrews and Skaggs. Absent: Reps. Linting and Arbit. Excused: Reps. Linting and Arbit. Representative Andrews moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 03, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation on the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. Eric Frederick, Chief Connectivity Officer from the Michigan High Speed Internet Office (MIHI), and Brennan Smith, Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO), gave a presentation on the BEAD program. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Schmaltz moved to excuse Representatives Linting and Arbit from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Jaime Greene adjourned the meeting at 11:01 AM.
