BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-6960 FAX: (517) 373-0897 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 21, 2024 A joint meeting of the Senate Committee on Appropriations was scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., in the Harry Gast Senate Appropriations Room of the State Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Review of the Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve (SOAR) fund. 2. Overview of the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MILEAP) budget recommendations. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. The Chair instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Anthony, Sen.(s) McCann, McDonald Rivet, Cherry, Bayer, Santana, Shink, Irwin, Hertel, Camilleri, Klinefelt, McMorrow, Cavanagh, Bumstead, Albert, Damoose, Huizenga, Outman and Theis, a quorum was present. The Chair made a motion, supported by Sen. Hertel, to adopt the committee meeting minutes from February 14, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Corey Savino of the Senate Fiscal Agency to give the committee a review of the Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve (SOAR) fund. Next, the Chair invited Michell Richard, Acting Director, and Rob Mass, Legislative Liaison of the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MILEAP) to give the committee an overview the 2024 and 2025 budget recommendations for the department. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Santana, supported by the Sen. Shink, to adjourn the Senate Committee on Appropriation at 3:00 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned. Approved: 03/06/2024 Page 1 of 1
