BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2406 FAX: (517) 373-5679 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 27, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Housing and Human Services was scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 486 (Sen. Cherry). 2. Testimony regarding SB 487 (Sen. Camilleri). 3. Testimony regarding SB 488 (Sen. Chang). 4. Testimony regarding SB 489 (Sen. Bayer). 5. Testimony regarding SB 490 (Sen. Cavanagh). The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Cavanagh, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, Geiss, Lindsey, Hoitenga, and Damoose, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bayer to adopt the meeting minutes from February 20, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair announced that the committee would continue testimony on SB 486 to SB 490. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 486, SB 487, SB 488, SB 489, and SB 490: Greg Abler, Center for Civil Justice – Support Deb Campbell, Mobile Home Resident – Support Angela Rogensues, City of Warren Council President – Support Pam Maxey, Mobile Home Resident – Support Theo Gantos, Resident of Mt. Morris – Support The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 486, SB 487, and SB 489: Judy Allen, Michigan Townships Association – Support Jen Rigterink, Michigan Municipal League – Support Page 1 of 2 The Chair invited Marnie Triemstra and Alesha Gensler from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to answer member questions regarding SB 486 to SB 490.
