BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-3447 FAX: (517) 373-5849 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 13, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 728 (Sen. Hertel) with recommendation. 2. Reported SB 669 (S-1) (Sen. Moss) with recommendation. 3. Reported SB 670 (S-1) (Sen. McBroom) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:07 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Singh, Sen.(s) McMorrow, Geiss, Polehanki, McBroom and Lindsey, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McMorrow to adopt the meeting minutes from March 6, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 728: Chardae Burton, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McMorrow to report SB 728 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Singh, Sen.(s) McMorrow, Geiss, and Polehanki. Nays: Sen.(s) Lindsey. Pass: Sen.(s) McBroom. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 669 and SB 670: Sens. Ed McBroom and Jeremy Moss – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 669 and SB 670: Kim Murphy-Kovalick, Voters Not Politicians – Support Lisa McGraw, Michigan Press Association – Support Page 1 of 2 The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 669. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Singh, Sen.(s) McMorrow, Geiss, Polehanki, McBroom, and Lindsey. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 670. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Singh, Sen.(s) McMorrow, Geiss, Polehanki, McBroom, and Lindsey. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to report the (S-1) version of SB 669 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Singh, Sen.(s) McMorrow, Geiss, Polehanki, and McBroom. Nays: None Pass: Sen.(s) Lindsey. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to report the (S-1) version of SB 670 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Singh, Sen.(s) McMorrow, Geiss, Polehanki, and McBroom. Nays: None Pass: Sen.(s) Lindsey. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
