BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2406 FAX: (517) 373-5679 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 9, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Housing and Human Services was scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 12:00 noon, in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4331 (Rep. Whitsett). 2. Testimony regarding HB 4332 (Rep. Whitsett). 3. Presentation regarding Supportive Housing. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:06 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Cavanagh, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, Geiss, Lindsey, Hoitenga, and Damoose, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Santana to adopt the meeting minutes from February 27, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Rep. Whitsett to summarize HB 4331 and HB 4332. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4331 and HB 4332: Hassan Beydoun, Mayor's Office of the City of Detroit – Support The following cards were read of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4331: Joseph Sullivan, DIFS – Support The following cards were read of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4332: Mike Spence, Southeast Michigan Council of Governments – Support Page 1 of 2 The following cards were read of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4331 and HB 4332: Barb Farrah, Mayor Mike Duggan of the City of Detroit – Support The Chair invited Catherine Distelrath, Director of CSH Corporation for Supportive Housing, and Molly Smith, from Avalon Housing, to give a presentation regarding supportive housing. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 12:46 p.m. Page 2 of 2
