BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2406 FAX: (517) 373-5679 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 16, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Housing and Human Services was scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4331 (S-1) (Rep. Whitsett) with recommendation. 2. Reported HB 4332 (Rep. Whitsett) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:44 a.m. At 9:45 a.m., the Chair recessed the committee. After Senate Session, at 11:48 a.m., the Chair reconvened the committee. The Chair instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, Geiss, Lindsey, Hoitenga, and Damoose, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Santana to adopt the meeting minutes from April 9, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair offered, and summarized, an (S-1) version of HB 4331. The following cards were read of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4331: Judy Allen, Michigan Townships Association – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bayer to adopt the (S-1) version of HB 4331. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, Geiss, Hoitenga, and Damoose Nays: None Pass: Sen. Lindsey The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. Page 1 of 2 At 11:50 a.m., Sen. Cavanagh entered the meeting. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to report the (S-1) version of HB 4331 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Cavanagh, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, Geiss, and Damoose Nays: Sen.(s) Lindsey and Hoitenga The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Shink to report HB 4332 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Irwin, Sen.(s) Santana, Cavanagh, Bayer, Shink, Chang, Cherry, Geiss, and Damoose Nays: Sen.(s) Lindsey and Hoitenga The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
