BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7888 FAX: (517) 373-2983 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 8, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Regulatory Affairs was scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 730 (Sen. Polehanki), SB 731 (Sen. Hauck) and SB 732 (Sen. Wojno). The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, Lauwers and Bellino, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki to adopt the meeting minutes from March 14, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen.(s) Polehanki, Hauck and Wojno to summarize SBs 730, 731, 732. Member questions followed. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 730, SB 731 and SB 732: Brett Visner, Michigan Beer & Wine Wholesalers – Support The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 730 and SB 732: Amy Drumm, MI Retailers Association – Opposition The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 731: Jerry Griffin, Midwest Independent Retailers Association – Opposition The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 732: Scott Ellis, MLBA – Opposition Scott Newman-Bale, Shorts Brewery – Opposition The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 730: Page 1 of 2 Mike Tobias MI Alcohol Policy Promoting Health and Safety – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 732: Jerry Griffin, Midwest Independent Retailers Assoc. – Opposition John McNamara, MI Restaurant Assoc. – Opposition The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 730 and SB 731: Scott Ellis, MLBA – Neutral The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Hauck to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) McCann and Webber were excused from the meeting There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
