BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7670 FAX: (517) 373-5958 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 14, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Local Government was scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 771 (Sen. Hertel). 2. Reported SB 700 (S-1) (Sen. Hertel) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Wojno, Moss, Shink, Hoitenga and Daley, a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Wojno to adopt the meeting minutes from April 30, 2024. Without objection the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 771, and invited Sen. Hertel to summarize the bill. The Chair brought up SB 700 and summarized the (S-1) version. The Chair invited the following individual to present testimony regarding SB 700: Rodney Nanney, Geologists, Self – Oppose The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 700: Peter Morman, Michigan Department of Treasury - Neutral The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Moss to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 700. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Wojno, Moss, Shink, Hoitenga and Daley Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Moss to report SB 700 (S-1) to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Klinefelt, Sen.(s) Wojno, Moss, Shink, Hoitenga and Daley Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Wojno to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Bayer was excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 9:47 a.m. Date Adopted by Committee: 06/04/2024
