BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-0142 FAX: (517) 373-3938 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 16, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Labor was scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 740 (Sen. Camilleri). 2. Testimony regarding SB 451 (Sen. Lauwers). The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri and Albert, a quorum was present. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Cavanagh was excused from the meeting. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Camilleri to adopt the meeting minutes from March 20, 2024. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 740: Sen. Darrin Camilleri – Support Kevin Gaby, Michigan Pipe Trades – Support Aaron Pangborn and Dale George, IBEW – Support Neil Parish, National Electrical Contractors Association – Support Justin Carpenter, EIBC – Opposition Due to time constraints, the following individuals were unable to present testimony regarding SB 740: Chad Jansen, IBEW 665 – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 740: Melissa Fish, Southwest Michigan First – Opposition Dawn Crandall, Home Builders Association of Michigan – Opposition Mike Compagnoni, Michigan Water Environment Association – Opposition Bonnifer Ballard, American Water Works Association Michigan – Opposition Shane Hernandez, ABC of Michigan – Opposition Al Pscholka, Lake Michigan College – Opposition Steve Claywell, Michigan Building Trades – Support Page 1 of 2 David Worthams, Michigan Manufacturers Association – Opposition Price Dobernick, United Association – Support Gary Glasser, Plumbers Local 98 – Support Jeremy Garza, Michigan Pipe Trades – Support Amanda Fisher, NFIB – Opposition The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 451: Sen.
